Losing a tooth changes more than the way your smile looks.

It changes how you chew, how you speak, and often how you feel about yourself. A single dental implant is the closest thing modern dentistry offers to replacing a natural tooth, in both appearance and function.

An implant replaces the root of the missing tooth as well as the visible crown. A small titanium post is placed into the jawbone, where it integrates naturally with the bone over time. Once healed, a bespoke ceramic crown is fitted on top, restoring your smile with something that looks, feels and behaves like a real tooth. Titanium is a biocompatible, safe material that naturally aligns with the jaw’s anatomy, making implants the most “natural” solution to a gap in your teeth.

Using digital radiographs and detailed planning, we assess bone quality, spacing and bite before treatment begins. This ensures your implant is placed with precision, safety and longevity in mind.

Why do patients choose dental implants?

You may often have heard of implants, which are often described as “the gold standard” for replacing a missing tooth (and this isn’t an overstatement).

This isn’t because they are the most dramatic option. It’s because they restore what was lost in the most natural way possible.

Patients value implants because:

  • They look like a real tooth: Each crown is custom-made to blend with your smile.
  • They feel secure: No slipping, clicking or movement when you eat or speak.
  • They protect your jawbone: Implants stimulate the bone, helping prevent long-term shrinkage.
  • They don’t rely on neighbouring teeth: Unlike bridges, no healthy teeth need to be altered.
  • They restore full chewing strength: You can eat confidently again.
  • They’re designed to last: With good care, implants can last many years.
  • They feel like part of you: Many patients forget which tooth is the implant.
  • They help maintain the appearance of skin smoothness: This prevents the subtle collapse that can follow tooth loss.
  • They restore everyday confidence: Smiling, talking and laughing without second thoughts.

Frequently asked questions

1. What is a dental implant made from?

The implant itself is a small post made from medical-grade titanium. This material is biocompatible, meaning your body accepts it naturally. Once healed, a ceramic crown is fitted on top to recreate the visible tooth.

2. Does implant treatment hurt?

The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic, so you should not feel pain during placement. Most patients describe the recovery as surprisingly mild, similar to having a tooth removed.

3. How long does the process take?

From planning to the final crown, treatment usually takes several months. This allows time for the implant to integrate fully with the bone. The result is a stable foundation that lasts.

4. Am I suitable for an implant?

Most adults are suitable, but adequate bone is needed to support the implant. We use digital radiographs to assess this accurately. If bone levels are low, there may still be options available.

5. Will it look different from my other teeth?

No. Your crown is crafted to match the shade, shape and proportions of your natural teeth. Once fitted, it should be indistinguishable.

6. How do I care for an implant?

Implants are cared for in the same way as natural teeth: brushing, flossing and regular dental visits. Good oral hygiene is key to long-term success.

7. What happens if I leave the gap?

A missing tooth can allow neighbouring teeth to drift, affect your bite, and lead to gradual bone loss in the jaw. Replacing it early helps preserve both function and facial structure.
